Measurement Guide – Roller Blinds

First step: Choose How You Want Your Blind Fitting

Inside Recess - Step By Step Measuring Guide

Width

Step 1: Measuring Your Width

To ensure a perfect fit, measure the width of your recess in at least three places. Use the smallest measurement as your final width when ordering your blind.

Depth Clearance Check

Before proceeding, make sure your recess has enough depth for the blind to operate smoothly:

  • Top-Fixing Brackets: Minimum 60mm depth clearance required.
  • Face-Fixing Brackets: Minimum 75mm depth clearance required.

Check for Obstructions

If there are tiles, handles, or any other objects inside the recess that might reduce the width, measure between the narrowest points.

👉 How to decide which measurement to use:

  • If the top width of your recess is at least 25mm wider than the narrowest part, use the narrowest width as your order measurement.
  • If the difference is less than 25mm, use the top measurement to make sure the fabric clears any obstructions.

💡 Super Simple Example:

  • The bottom of your recess measures 980mm.
  • The top of your recess measures 1000mm.
  • Since the top is less than 25mm wider than the bottom, order using the top measurement (1000mm) so the fabric clears the obstruction.

Important!
The fabric width will be 35mm less than your provided measurement, ensuring smooth operation.

Drop

Step 2: Measuring Your Drop

Measuring Your Recess Drop

Measure the height of the recess at three different points. Use the smallest measurement as your drop size when placing your order.

Step 3: Select Recess Option

When placing your order, choose the “Recess” fitting option. We’ll automatically adjust the measurement to ensure the correct fit with the appropriate brackets.

Width

Step 1: Measuring Your Width

Decide how much you want your blind to extend beyond the window recess on each side. This overlap helps improve privacy, light control, and overall coverage. Be sure to include this overlap in your width measurement.

Recommended Overlap

  • We suggest adding at least 50mm on each side (total 100mm wider than the recess).
  • Always check for obstructions like light switches to ensure the overlap doesn’t interfere with anything.

Better Light Control

A larger overlap improves light exclusion, helping to block out external light more effectively.

Note: The total blind size will be 35mm wider than your fabric width measurement. This accounts for the brackets and ensures smooth operation once installed.

Drop

Step 2: Measuring Your Drop

Determine where you’d like the headrail and bottom bar to be positioned. Measure from the top of the headrail down to the bottom of the bottom bar, and use this as your drop measurement when ordering your blind.

Recommended Overlaps

  • Top Overlap: We recommend at least 70mm above the window recess for better coverage.
  • Bottom Overlap:
    • If a radiator or other obstructions are present, your bottom bar should be positioned just above them.
    • If your window sill protrudes by more than 50mm, align the blind with the sill.
    • Otherwise, the bottom overlap is personal preference.

This ensures a proper fit, smooth operation, and the best possible light control. 😊
